54th Annual Newcastle Combined Schools ANZAC Service – 8th April 10am – Venue: Civic Theatre – With the theme “Vietnam: Australia’s Longest War Primary and High School Students from the Newcastle area commemorate ANZAC Day.
Livesites: Street Performers Festival – 10th – 13th April 2008 – Venue: Newcastle Mall, Harbour Square, Honeysuckle. Promised to be an interesting and fascinating display of bizarre street acts, celebrating the 4th Annual Performers Festival.
Newcastle Show 2008 - 10th to the 13th April – Venue: Newcastle Showground, Brown Rd, Broadmeadow. – The Newcastle Showground will be packed to the rafters with all the fun and excitement of interesting displays, street entertainers, and much more, a great day for the whole family.
Back to the Bush School Holiday Fun – 12 to the 27th April 2008 – Venue: Hunter Valley Gardens, Broke Road, Pokolbin. – Perfect for kids aged form 2 to 14 with many fun activities and games including a Treasure Hunt.
Blackbutt Reserve Spotlight Adventures - 12 April to the 31st May 2008 – Venue: Blackbutt Reserve, Carnley Avenue, New Lambton – See the local native wildlife at it’s best, when it comes out at night, also includes billy tea and damper.
PNAU – 12th April 2008 – Venue: Newcastle Panthers, Cnr King & Union Streets, Newcastle. – See one of Australia’s best local talents who are constantly innovating their exciting electronic crossover style.
AAA Walking Tour: University – 13th April 2008 – Venue: Meet at School of Fine Arts Gallery, Newcastle Uni – An interesting 2 hour walk through some of the Newcastle Universities best buildings. All led by experienced and expert walking guides
Newcastle City Farmers & Craft Market – 13th April 2008 – Venue: Newcastle Showground, Broadmeadow – Get the freshest local produce direct from the farmer at the hugely popular Newcastle Market.
NRL: Newcastle Knights v Brisbane Broncos - 13th April 2008 – Venue: Energy Australia Stadium, Turton Road, Broadmeadow – This will be a huge game for the local boys who will hit a rampant Broncos outfit coached by the legendary Wane Bennet.
City of Newcastle Ballet Eisteddfod – Date 14th to 26th of April 2007 – Venue: Griffith Duncan Theatre, Newcastle University – Watch this spectacular classical ballet eisteddfod that also includes musical, comedy and even modern and jazz dancing. See the Hunters best talent on display.
Jack & The Beanstalk – Young People’s Theatre – Date 15th to 26th April 2008 – Venue: Hunter Wetlands Centre, Sandgate Road, Shortland – Perfect for children aged 4 to 12. Come and see the wetland Turtles and enjoy the great outdoors with the excellent nature walks through Newcastle’s very own Wetlands.

Hunter Valley Steamfest – Date 18th April – 20 April 2008 - Step back in time to when steam was king and come to the Annual Steamfest in Maitland. There are over 40 different train excursions over the weekend, the perfect outing for a family.
Crimes of the Heart – Date 18th April to the 10th May 2008 – Venue: St Stephen’s Anglican Hall, Adamstown – Great comedy and drama with three sisters who meet for the first time in years by the fact that one of them shoots her husband.
Crusty Demons Unleash Hell Regional Australia Tour 2008 – Date 19th April 2008 – your heart will be beating like a drum when you witness the awesome feats of the Crusty Demons who throw caution to the wind and pull of massive ariel tricks including the wikid double backflip – NOPT TO BE MISSED!
Hunter Water Baths 2 Bar Community Ocean Swim – 20 April 2008 – Venue: Merewether Baths to Bar Beach – A tough 1.5 Kilometre ocean water swim from Merewether Baths to Bar Beach. There are great prizes for winners and even some random draw prizes, what better way to say good bye to the warmer months and get a last big swim in before the water gets too cold.

Disney’s High School Musical: The Ice Tour – Date: 25 – 27 April 2008 – Venue: Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Broadmeadow – Known as the ice tour this is a total celebration of dancing , music and fun that is inspired by the hit movies ‘High School Musical’ and ‘High School Musical 2′ Know for it’s relentless energy this show is sure to impress and excite.
ANZAC Day – Date: 25 April 2008 – Come and join in the great Australian memorial services of Anzac day, pay your tributes to other Anzacs who were forgotten when they returned home after their gallant battles in the first World War. 5:15 Dawn Service at Nobbies Beach. 9;15 Anzac Day March at Pacific Park, Newcomen St, Scott St, Darby St, King St and Civic Park. There is also a united Commemoration Ceremony at Civic Park Centoaph King Street.
Busting Out! - Date: 26 April – Venue: Civic Theatre, Hunter Street, Newcastle – A highly entertaining show that is full of bouncy songs, wobbly jokes, thigh slapping sketches, and of course and even practical demonstrations of what you can do with your drooping assets. The boys have been doing it for years so now it’s the girls turn to show them up.

Newcastle University Choir: Peace and Glory, Music for the Soul – Date: 27 April – Venue: Great Hall, University of Newcastle, Callaghan – The well known Newcastle University Choir celebrates it’s 30th anniversary with ‘Peace and Glory, Music for the Soul’. Come and see some of the best singers in the Hunter for a performance that will not disappoint.
Jason Alexander’s Comedy Spectacular – Date: 30 April 2008 -
Venue: Civic Theatre, Hunter Street, Newcastle – You loved him as one of the stars on Seinfeld now come and see him live with some of Australia’s best local comedy talent on stage at Newcastle’s Civic Theatre.
