Blacksmiths Beach House
Lot’s of Backpackers strongly recommend Blacksmiths Beach House. People have said that it’s the best one in the whole Newcastle region. With friendly managers you will feel like you’re back at home at home - very relaxing. Its clean, tidy, has a large kitchen, large TV/common room.
Newcastle Beach YHA Hostel
The Newcastle Beach YHA is a very spacious old building. It’s been renovated and turned into a great hostel, the old building gives it a special kind of charm with lots of character. The layout of the Hostel is great, It’s got a large communal room with huge leather sofas, TV, and a pool table. There are lots of comfortable leather sofas which are dotted around so you can find somewhere to sit and read. Goof for a bit of space to yourself. With a large well equipped kitchen and laundry on the lower floor it’s very easy. As with most hostels you can expect unisex shower and toilet blocks.
Stockton Beach Backpacker
Near the beach AND in a quiet suburb, it’s hard to beat this place. It’s only a short 5 minute ferry ride to the city. The hostel has a very friendly management and is tidy and in good order. Not recommended if you need to drive to the city everyday, it’s about a 20 minute trip.
Backpackers by the Beach
Smack bang in the middle of Newcastle - this is an ideal location to stay at. In a beautiful spot right by the beach the Backpackers By The Sea is truly matches it’s name. Previous visitors have said “it’s a great location with wicked staff — friendly and helpful.” you will happy to find out that they do a free BBQ’s and pizza, a backpackers dream! The only downside is that there’s no laundry and no lift, but there’s laundrettes nearby anyway. It’s clean and the showers are good.
Accommodation West End
Located at the busy corner of Hunter Street and Stewart Avenue it’s only about a ten minute walk to the centre of town. Although it’s not smack bang on the beach there are other positives, including a Newcastle Museum and a 24hr supermarket. There are plenty of shops and public transport is right at your door. Located at 775 Hunter Street
